The Whitelake Tor Road Race, once again proved to be as good as the previous editions, if not better! 79 of the full field of 80 riders signed on for the 50 mile race on the roads around Somerton. The bunch rolled out from the Overt Locke Ltd to a crowd of curious on lookers. It was not long after the neutralised section that a rider from Tri UK was on the attack and was soon to be be joined by another, by the end of the second lap the partnership had chiselled out nearly a minutes lead. However as quickly as the gap formed it was soon to be dissolved by the chasing peloton and it was all back as one. For the next few laps the pace was continually high meaning no escapees, but the size of the main peloton had started to dwindle. With only a lap to go a group of 7 riders had put day light between themselves and the rest of the charging group lead by Yeovil CC's James Lewis. 4 of the 7 had stayed away to contest the final gallop with the St Austell Wheelers CC rider Joe Healey putting several bike lengths clear of fellow break away companions Andrew Wiley (University of Manchester CC) an Owen Lewis (VC Venta)
Awards were presented by event and club sponsor Roger Longman and his daughter Jess of White Lake Cheese, without their support neither the club or the event would not be in such a good place, thank you.
